Anticipation In the Air...Can You Smell It?

Aside from the disappointing loss in the Championships last season, there is anticipation in the air and there is reason to celebrate...

Hope.

The anticipation flowing over from a new and improved administration taking office late in January politically, but that feeling of anticipation flowing over to the new and improved team and the next great season we all know the Lakers have in them. We have hope in them making it all the way to the victory parade this year. What precipitated this great hope, and causes us to forget those horrible atrocities of yesterday?

Change.

The Lakers long term future is solidified with a 4 year 54.7 million dollar contract extension signed by Andrew Bynum. This will change the dynamic of the team having 2 capable 7 footers on the floor and 1, Mihm, well, cheering them on. In addition to Bynum's extension there are a host of new players that are likely to change the way the Lakers play out on the court, and from what I saw at the Lakers Private Practice in the pre-season, it looks to be very good future. With Bynum's impressive numbers from last season with Pau Gasol (Center from Spain acquired last year), we will be unstoppable. I can smell the victory...

Just before tip off of an exhibition game last month in Las Vegas, Derek Fisher grabbed a microphone, thanked the crowd for supporting the Lakers and urged them to do him one final favor.

"Make sure you register to vote," he said.

...And America did vote, one of the best turnouts possibly in a century. Let's hope the change the Lakers have made give them the best turnout we have seen from them in a long time as well...Can you smell victory in the air?

Yes we can.

With a 3-0 start to the season, and speaking of a smell of a different kind, they play the stinking Clippers tonight (0-4) the Lakers are bound to continue their winning streak.

Can we win the whole enchilada this year?

Yes, we can...I can smell it.
