Game 2 2007 Playoffs: Lakers Vs. Suns

Lakers Line-up for tonight is: Farmar, the rookie, getting his second play-off start of his career tonight, after his first Sunday, Bryant, Walton, Brown and Odom. Phil Jackson has 178 career playoff wins, the most in NBA history; lets make it 179 tonight, okay Phil?

Well, what can I say? I don't know what was worse: The Lakers playing or that annoying woman (man?) screaming throughout the whole game Tuesday. That high pitch shrill was unbearable, did anyone else hear that?

Game 1 2007 Playoffs: Lakers Vs. Suns

Hey Lakers, the game is 48 Minutes long, not 36! Remember there is a 4th quarter to this game. Kobe played awesome the first 3 quarters, scoring 28 of his 39 points in the first 24 minutes. Kobe got the team off and running early, popping off jumper after jumper, ending the first half with some long shots from down town to give the Lakers their 9 point lead at half time, but it just wasn't enough to hold on in the fourth and win Sunday night.

So can they do something to exploit the weaknesses of the Suns? How about the baseline at the offensive end, starting with Lamar Odom covering Shawn Marion, we know Lamar can do that very well based on last years series. Lamar had 17 points, 16 rebounds in 40 minutes and only 2 points, 1/4 FGs in the fourth quarter in the 1st game. What about Luke Walton when Barbosa is in the lineup, he can really make him play D. Luke had 10 points, 6 assists, and 6 rebounds in Sunday's game, and the key to success is really pounding hard on the inside when the Suns have their 3 guard line-up with Barbosa matched up against Luke so he can make him pay.

Pre-Game Ramble: Lakers Vs. Suns: Friday the 13th Edition

Okay, Laker fans, as we draw closer to the end of the season, and closer to the play-offs, we all understand that every game counts. Lakers have to make this game count as they get ready to play tonight out in the desert. The Lakers get a chance to redeem themselves in a rematch, MVP vs. Score Leader, a test of wills...tonight Lakers vs. Suns.

Lakers are fighting for the 7th seat, after a fourth quarter meltdown and missed opportunity to rise in the playoff standings against the Clippers last night. Lakers are a game and a half, in the 7th spot.

Phoenix Suns are a machine, they got the 2 time MVP Nash, The Matrix Marion, Stoudemire, Bell, and are contenders for the championship....so how are we going to stop them? They have a full team of superstars, we are going to have to claw our way to a win at the ....US Airways Center (Does this arena name change, like every week?), on Friday the 13th, no less. Kwame Brown on the inactive list tonight, still favoring that sore ankle, with Mihm, of course (remember him?), the third inactive player not playing tonight is Aaron Mckee and snowboarding super star Vlade Radmonivich will suit up tonight after returning with limited minutes last night and playing his first road trip since his snowboarding accident.

Luke dating Britney? Shear Madness...

Don't believe it for 1 minute:
Daily Star:
BRITNEY Spears could soon be getting up to some "lanky panky" with a 6ft 8in basketball player.

The pop princess is set to go out on a date with LA Lakers star Luke Walton. And his pals say they will be perfect partners – because Britney, 25, is fresh out of rehab and Luke, 27, is on the wagon during his team's run-in to the NBA play-offs.

"His people and her people are trying to thrash out a date when they can have a bite to eat and then we'll see what happens."

Lakers Bitch Slap The Queens: 126-103

The Lakers win on this auspicous Sunday, with Jordan Farmar making history by being the only player to play in an NBA & D-League game, Luke Walton awarded player of the game with 18 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist.

Pre-Game Ramble: Lakers vs. The Queens

The Lakers currently lead the season series against the Queens 1-1, after splitting last season 2-2. This will be the 261th meeting between the 2 franchises and the 96th since the Kings moved to Sacramento. In their first meeting this season, (1/4/07) Bryant who is averaging 36.0 points this season aainst Sacramento this season, just missed a triple double with 42 points, 10 rebounds, & 9 assists. in an overtime victory with 102 FT attempts. Also in that game, the Lakers were lashe with 42 personal fouls, making a new LA lakers franchise record.

Farmar Works Double Shift Tonight

Los Angeles Lakers' point guard Jordan Farmar may be written into the record books tonight as the only player to play in 2 different leagues in the same day. Earlier this afternoon, Farmar played in the Lakers' developmental league, the D-Fenders, who played against the Anaheim Arsenalsthis afternoon and scored 18 points and playing 40 minutes. So, could he play again in the game tonight at 6:30 against the Sacramento Kings?

"The thinking behind it is that it would be really great to have Jordan get a game in which he really has sustained minutes to play - get some shots, get back in rhythm again," Lakers Head Coach Phil Jackson said.
No player has ever appeared in both a D-League and an NBA game in the same day.
It remains to be seen if Farmar plays for both the D-Fenders and Lakers in the same day. "He might," Jackson said. "If Mike Bibby gets fouls on our guards, we might need him."

So it remains to be seen if Farmar will play tonight or not, known for for his hard working ethic on the court, we'll just have to see how hard working he is after tonights game against the Kings.

Pre-Game Ramble: Lakers vs. Grizzlies

Helllo Lakers Fans...the starting line-up was Kwame-less...could be that ankle? The last time the Lakers played the Grizzlies, Kobe scored 60 points, which made him only the third player in NBA history to score 50 or more points in 3 consequetive games.

Pre-Game Ramble: Lakers vs. Warriors

Hello Laker Fans, this game should be an exciting one, but not particularly because of the opposing teams prowess. In fact the Lakers lead their season series wth the Warriors 3-0, last year 4-0, & 3-1 the year before. The Lakers have not lost a series season with the Warriors since the 94-95 season. The Lakers are 12-1 overall against the Warriors and have won the last 7 in a row! They are 14-1 overall at Staples and have won the last 7 at home.
So, if its not the incredible match up, then what's generating the magic in the air at Staples?

65-50-60 Back to Back to Back
Kobe had 60 points on 3/22 Against Memphis Kobe had 60 points and became the 4th player in NBA history to score at least 50 points in three consequetive games, Joining Jordan (April '87), Elgin Baylor (Dec. '62)m, and Chamberlain who accomplished the feat 10 times in his career.

Pre-Game Ramble: Lakers vs. T'Wolves

Hello Lakers Fans....sitin' here at Staples after wadding through attendees of the car show at the Convention Center....it looks like nobody got the news that todays game starts at 5pm instead of the 6:30 printed on the tickets. As the Start Spangled Banner is being belted out by a 14 year old Napoleon Dynomite look alike, the Staples Arena looks about half full. The Lakers currently lead their season series with Minnesota 2-1. This will be the 70th meeting between the 2 franchises.

Stop Feeding the Chris Webber Rumors!

Webber has a lot on his plate.

There have been a lot of blogs dishing out speculation on whether or not C-Webb will don a Laker uniform. So, what if Webber signs with the Lakers? Could he be biting off than he can chew? Between trying to co-exist with Kobe Bryant, trying to digest the triangle offence and icing his sore knees, I think he might.

Phil Jackson's response was telling; when asked about reports that free-agent forward Chris Webber had a wish list of five teams for which he would like to play, the Lakers being one of them:

“Did he give it to Santa?” Jackson quipped. “It’s a little bit late for that.”

After reaching an agreement on a buyout, Webber was waived Thursday by the Philadelphia 76ers. The Lakers could offer Webber a prorated contract for the veteran’s minimum of $1.117 million, of which $433,797 would be covered by the NBA.

“We’ve always respected Chris Webber’s game and he’s a great player,” Jackson said.

All these rumors are giving me an upset stomach, and quite frankly, make me wanna throw up.

Let the Spurs have him.

The Lakers have a recipe that's perfect, so let's not mess with it, okay Kupchak? Or you may be eating crow off of a Chris Webber Commemorative Plate.

Has Big Handles; Takes Up 5 Blocks; & On the Floor Most of the Game

"Uh, hey Lady, I think you dropped something"

Carnac the Magnificent holds the 'hermetically sealed' envelope up to his turban and says, "Big Handles; Takes Up 5 Blocks; On the Floor Most of the Game." Carnac opens the envelope and reads, "What do Ronny Turiaf and the lady's purse next to me have in common?" Carnac's psychic abilities were the only 'magic' worth mentioning tonight, as the Lakers win 109-106 against the Orlando Magic with the help of Turiaf's 5 blocks, infectious enthusiasm; Smush Parker's career high 26 points, 3 steals and Kobe with 28 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Wow, the Lakers played bigger than that Lady's gargantuan purse pushing against my leg the whole game.
Carnac the Magnificent

Speaking of big purses, let me address this disturbing trend. What is the deal with women and these massive purses? I mean, they seem to be getting bigger by the day. The woman next to me would have a hard time checking it in as a carry-on at the airport it was so big. You've got to be kidding me, if it was any bigger she would have to buy it a seat. Ladies, please...do something about this before it gets out of hand...literally.

But I digress...

Lakers played hard tonight, but the Lakers are going to have to dust off their own bag of tricks for some more magic against the Miami Heat on Monday.

Let's just make sure it's a big bag.

Pre-Game Ramble: Lakers Vs. Orlando Magic

TheLakers are currently leading this season's series 1-0, winning last seasonls series against Orlando 2-0, sweeping the Magic for the second time in the last three seasons and for the sixth time in eight years. The Lakers are currently 7-0 all-time against the Magic at Staples Center and have won their last nine consecutive games against Orlando in Los Angeles. In their last meeting, five Lakers scored double figures as L.A. defeated Orlando 106-93. The Lakers are 13-6 this season when five or more players score in double-figures.

Starting for the Lakers tonight: Brian Cook, Luke Walton, Andrew Bynum, Smush Parker, Kobe Bryant

Starting for the Magic: Tony Battle, Hedo Turkoglu, Dwight Howrd, Jameer Nelson, Grant Hill.

Lakers Don't Quit! Smokin' the Mavericks 101-98

A Benched Walton: Luke takes some time out of his busy schedule to visit with the Dallas Bench; "hey guys, let's be friends...did you know that I'm ranked 3rd in the NBA for 3-point shooting? ...no, really."

Lakers made New Years resolutions this year, but to quit smoking the competition was not one of them. The Lakers lit up the court as a fuming Cuban (Mark Cuban, owner of the Dallas Mavericks) looked on. Speaking of a hot Cuban, the Lakers fans were stoked to see the fresh Lakers bench get hotter than a Cohiba cigar, truly unbelievable. Lakers were definitely hot tonight, there was no denying that, by beating the team with the best record in the NBA.

So should we be surprised by this win? It did live up to all the hype...all this and without Lamar Odom and Kwame Brown. The Lakers deserved this 4th straight win, and Phil Jackson was also deserving of his 900th career victory.

Kobe Bryant had 26 points, eight rebounds and six assists and Luke Walton scored 21 and outscored Dallas 7-2 by himself to move the Lakers within two points with five minutes left; Sasha worked his magic with a career high 16 points (3 of the most important in last 28.5 seconds) and played incredible defense. Ronny Turiaf (I haven't seen his much enthusiasm on the Lakers since Tyron Lue) added 13 points and Smush Parker scored 11.

Deepest team in the league? The Lakers bench is so deep we drowned the Mavericks in there own tears; and even that couldn't put out the fire that was raging at the Staples Center tonight, way to go Lakers!
